This trial unit was in the car when I completed the harness work. The original TCU had part number 01M 927 733 FB, the trial TCU had part number 01M 927 733 EN. During my troubleshooting prior to the wiring harness work, I had tried out another TCU.

Not to confuse anyone, but I'd like to mention something else that came up. With this replacement, the shifting issues went away and all seems well for the time being.The sensors were of the newer connection type, so I used the ones that came from the Jetta. Getting the pins out at the connector were also somewhat difficult. It was tedious and time consuming with all the unwrapping and re-wrapping of the wiring, but the results were worth it. Essentially, I made my own overlay harness. I then pulled the existing Beetle's harness apart enough to replace the wiring for the old sensors with the newer one. I pulled the harness apart and removed the wiring for the two sensors along with the pins for the computer connections. As a substitute, a friend gave me a complete harness out of a newer Jetta (don't remember year). I was not able to obtain overlay harnesses for the G38 & G68 sensors. Just wanted to give an update on what I ended up doing in order to get the 01M functioning properly.
